The Government proposes to educate at its own expense in this country a selected band of Filipino youths rhen one or two of the universities have offered of-fered to give free scholarships to a few Filipinos The Filipinos are a little lit-tle like the Japanese In their quickness of understanding and the more Malay there is in them the brighter they seem to be If the same result Is wrought by educating a few Filipinos In this Country coun-try that was brought about by educating I edu-cating a few Japanese the Philippines will be a great country In the next thirty thir-ty years The Japs came over They not only seized upon the sciences of the schoolsbut they seemedto drink in the whole genius of our Institutions and when they returned to their native home the work of modernizing that great empire began at once with the result that today the besttrained army In the world Is the Japanese e e and they lire literally up to snuff in every line of material advancement I
