Show AMONG THE HORSEMEN The horsemen arc gradually working upon plans which are expected to ultimately ulti-mately result in tho building of a fine nico course But no definite steps have yet been taken for a mile course and nothing will be dono for another year Tho Interest is gradually Increasing and It is hoped that before the opening of another season this city will be on a circuit which at the present time is i Impracticable owing to the lack of proper accommodations for the horses and trainers J > nIt n-It Is considered a settled fact by the prominent horsemen of the United States that the roan stallion belonging to Hal Brown has no match In the Union at the present time J IL Thayer who JiatJ bred somo of the best horses in tho country and whose racers have proved to be winners In many instances has stated that he could take Mi Browns horse and beat tho worlds stallion trotting record of SOSi J W Brodline proprietor of the Gladstone hotel Boston Mass who has been dn a pleasure trip to California had heard a great deal of Air Browns horse but had never seen him On his way East Mr Brodllno made a special trIp to Salt Lake from Ogden last Friday to see this famous horse And was stir prised to find such an animal In tho West He bald that lie had seen all tho stallions that ever trotted hetter than 210 hut none of them could be compared with Mr Browns horse 0 r 0 Word has been received from T J Montgomery who successfully pro moted a series of hors races last fall ou the Agricultural park track that he I Is now trying to organize an Interrnoun I tain circuit which Is to include the I principal race courses of Colorado Utah Idaho and probably extend into Montana Montgomery Is 1 a great pro I motor and if the plans can be pushed lo a success ho in the I man to do It Ills scheme Is met with favor here but It is feared that It will be Impossible for him to realize Ills present dreams o 0 u The horsemen will make an effort to have a driveway cut through to Cald i ers park on the west end It will then be possible to go straight down Fifth 1 East HtrcQt to the race track which 1 will wave nearly u mile in travel j CAll > 0 9 C-All attempt will be made b by the local I horaeiiici lo have W II Brown take charge of the Caldcro park halfmile horse track and promote the races there the same as Mayor Thompson and McCoy did last year As Mr Brown has had the experience of following tho Na tional circuits lie Is I mor competent to take hold of the mutter and give the I people better races than most men |
