working has received three i letters h from that once unknown land and the contents are such that he has again got hold of the Klondike fever and will leave for there In a short time One of the letters says that while Dawson Is rather dull there Is great I activity In other portions of tho country coun-try There has been a mistaken Idea j r I about this city says the writer which should be corrected Dason Is not aj mining town it is simply a distributing point As a result the miners on the j I various rivers and creeks arc going farther and farther away gradually and so Its population is steadily decreasing de-creasing There has been quite a stampede to Clear creek a tributary of I the Stuart river which is thirty fle miles from Dawson and reports from that section are decidedly encouraging There Is much more snow this winter than last but we do not seem to mind it as much as we dd Another letter from Eureka creek about forty miles from Dawson brings the information that there Is quite a lot I of work going on along its banks and that the results so far have been very good In most of the cases the gold is coarse and thus easily saved Several good new claims are now being worked on the Koyupuk river the scene of the stampede last summer and from which much gold was taken Alpng Sulphur I creek much of the work Is beingdone this Inter on hillside claims The writer
