Show Cancer Society Conducts Meet, Elects Officers A successful leadership conference con-ference of volunteer workers for the Utah Division, American, Cancer Society, was completed last Friday at the Hotel Utah, according to Walter M. Jones, division president. He said that major goals of education to battle cancer were established, that officers and directors were reelected re-elected at the annual meeting held the evening of October 12. About 160 individuals, leaders in forty county units throughout Utah, attended the two day conference. con-ference. The three major educational goals set at the conference were to inform the public, particularly particu-larly teenagers and young people, peo-ple, of the relationship between lung cancer and smoking; to educate the public on cancer of the colon and rectum and urge early detection; and to conquer uterine cancer by making women aware of the early dtection possibilities pos-sibilities available to them by use of the Pap smear process. At the election held Thursday evening following the annual banquet, all officers were reelected, re-elected, as were a number of directors whose terms were expiring. ex-piring. Officers reelected were: Mr. Jones, president; Clark N. Stohl, vice president; Ira Sharp, vice president; Miss Becky Almond, Al-mond, secretary, and Orval W. Arams, treasurer, all Salt Lake City. Mr. Stohl also was elected lay delegate to represent Utah Division at national headquarters of the American Cancer Society in New York when necessary. In this post he succeeds Mr. Jones. Board members re-elected to three years terms were Aldon J. Anderson, Dr. Wallace L. Cham- bers, Dr. Thomas F. Dougherty, Mrs. Hal Farr, Mrs. Arthur Fre-ber, Fre-ber, Dr. Royal L. Garff, J. B. Heinz, Dr. H. M. Jackson, Mrs. Theron S. Parmelee, J. Holman Waters, Dr. Carl T. Woolsey, all of Salt Lake, Dr. Richard Call of Provo, Dr. George M. Fister and Dr. Dean W. Tanner of Og-den; Og-den; Rendell N. Mabel of Bountiful; Boun-tiful; Dr. William L. Mason Jr. of Panguitch and Dr. T. Seager of Vernal. Newly elected board members for three year terms were Mrs. Sarah M. Creer and Douglas H. Smith, both of Salt Lake.
