Show High School Orators Attend State Meet The Utah High School State Forensic Meet was conducted in Salt Lake City at the University of Utah Friday and Saturday. One phase of the activity took place at the State Capitol. In order to qualify for the meet, teams and individuals had to compete in the forensic tournaments tour-naments held in their various regions. . Debate, extemporanosu speaking, speak-ing, oratory contest, and a legislative legis-lative forum were the four categories cate-gories of activities. There were seven rounds of debate, and three each of oratory and extemporaneous ex-temporaneous speaking. The legislative forum was conducted at the Capitol with sessions held Friday and Saturday. A luncheon to announce the winning teams and individuals was held in the Union Ballroom Saturday at noon. Class A schools entered in the meet included Logan, Ben Lomond, Lo-mond, Bear River, Bountiful, Davis, Ogden Weber, East, Highland, High-land, South, Olympus, Murray. Jordan. Tooele. Orem, Provo and Carbon. Class B schools participating were Morgan, North Summit, Wasatch, American Fork, BY High, Lehi, Pleasant Grove, No. Emery, East Carbon, Union, Duchesne, Du-chesne, Wayne, Richfield, Delta, Dixie. Valley and Hurricane. |
