Show Game Commission Reports Actions The following actions were taken by the Utah Fish and Game Commission during recent meetings meet-ings held in St. George. Approved establishment of a wild waterfowl propagation center cen-ter in Utah, to be erected on ?ands near Farmington Bay. Set the annual seining proclamation procla-mation covering the 1960 season. These orders include the rules governing the commercial take of fish from state waters and will remain identical to those in effect during 1959, with only seme minor additions. Approved a commercial shooting shoot-ing preserve for pheasants to be operated in Wasatch County. Approved the purchase of 50 acres of waterfowl marshland in Sanpete County. Approved a request from Da-v's Da-v's Cotmtv that they be granted a site at Farmington Bay for the establishment of a sewage disposal dis-posal plant. Opened the Minersvillc Reservoir Res-ervoir in Beaver County to the hunting of waterfowl for the balance of the season, effective Dec. 23. Granted reauests to one license agent for credit on fish and game licenses destroyed by fire. A full five man commission was in attendance at the one day session following a day department depart-ment facilities and projects located lo-cated in the southern portion of th state. Meanwhile, the department announced an-nounced that mere thm a quarter quar-ter of a million dollars was paid Tit by the Utah Department of j Fish and Game for capital im-' im-' provement projects during the last six months of 1959. This money, some $268,629.20, 's about one fifth of the total, $1 291.550 budgeted for capital improvement work during the two year biennium which began last July 1 and ends June 30, '61. Crane noted that these are the fish ?nd game dollars invested in permanent physical improvements improve-ments designed to further enhance en-hance Utah"s outdoor opportunity. opportun-ity. He said they represent a maior expenditure of the total fish and game dollars available for the two year period. Largest single capital expenditure expen-diture during the six month period took place in Uintah County with the enlarging of the East Park Reservoir dams and construction of a spillway. C?st of this project amounts to ;122.?65 as storage capacity of, the lake is doubled to insure a constant fish life and increased fishing area. Construction of new rearing ponds and other major improvements improve-ments at the PJidway Hatchery , were more than half completed ! during the period at a cost of $79,000.00. Anticipated finished cost here is $135,000. First stage of the proposed capital improvement program at the Whiterocks Hatchery is going go-ing forward with an outlay to date of $5,363.00 expended for water developm?nt The Turpin Marsh contract at 'v'arm'nton Eay Refuge is progressing pro-gressing as dikes and diversion structures are being constructed rn this major project. Some $22,-899 $22,-899 was paid out during the time of an expected $160,000.00 tota1 project cost. |
