Show Jay E. Banks Announces Intent To Run For Re-election "Scrutiny of my record as district dis-trict attorney is invited because it is on that record that I seek re-election." A life-long resident of Salt Lake County, Mr. Banks is a graduate of the University of Utah where he received his law degree in 1942. During World War II he served as a lieutenant commander in the Navy. He began be-gan the practice of law in 1946. For eight years he was chief criminal deputy in the Salt Lake County Attorney's office. He has served on the excutive committee commit-tee of the National District At-I At-I torneys Association. He has been JAY E. BANKS The incumbent district attorney attor-ney for the Third Judicail District, Dis-trict, Jay E. Banks, this week announced his candidacy for re-nomination re-nomination and reelection on the Democratic ticket. Mr. Banks was elected to an unexpired term two years ago. In his announcement he said, "As district attorney, I have endeavored en-deavored to protect the innocent regardless of their station in life and to prosecute those charged with crimes regardless of their position where public justice and law of the forum dictate. ' on that organization's board of directors for five years. Mr. Banks has been active in the Democratic party. He has served as district chairman, as president of the Jackson Democratic Demo-cratic League and on the Salt Lake County Central Committee. He has also been active in veterans vet-erans affairs. The candidate is married to the former Ruth Black and they have four children and reside at 7070-2870 East. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. |
