Show Opinion Voids Switch In City Accounting In an opinion issued this week the Salt Lake City Legal Department De-partment said the State Tax Commission doesn't have authority author-ity to establish accounting systems sys-tems for municipalities and that the city commission cannot voluntarily vol-untarily adopt the uniform accounting ac-counting system as proposed by the tax commission. The opinion, requested by City Auditor Louis E. Holley, was discussed in an executive session ses-sion during which Mayor Adiel F. Stewart read part of the opinion. opin-ion. City Attorney James L. Barker and his assistant Norman W. Kettner wrote the opinion which contends that "insofar as this uniform system of accounts affects af-fects municipalities it runs counter coun-ter to the Utah Constitution, Article 6, Section 29. |
