Show Utahns Requested To Send Food To Tibet Refugees An appeal was issued to all Americans to help send emergency emer-gency aid to the 20,000 Tibetan refugees by Michael C. Phillips of San Francisco, CARE director for California, Nevada and Utah. Mr. Phillips spoke of the tragedy trag-edy of the Tibetans forced to flee their homeland when Communist Com-munist Chinese troops forceably put down opposition. These refugees refu-gees are daily crowding into India In-dia and are in desperate need of food, medicine and other emergency emer-gency supplies. CARE has made an initial food distribution to Tibetan refugees in camps at Tezpur and Missa-mari, Missa-mari, Assam, India, which con-! sisted of 54,800 pounds of rice, flour, lentils, salt, sugar, potatoes pota-toes and cooking oil. This was the first food relief to reach the camps. Working in cooperation on this project with CARE is the Central Relief Committee I formed by private citizens of India., |
