Show City Studies Proposal For Civic Center Site Salt Lake City Commissioner Theodore I. Geurts has recommended recom-mended to the commission that it follow the recent EBASCO report on a plan for a civic center and that 2nd East between 4th and 5th South be vacated. "This would give the city additional ad-ditional land worth approximately approxi-mately one million dollars but without cost to the city," he said. "The east one-quarter of the City and County Building block could be added and three quarters quar-ters of a city block would be available to the city and county for a new civic center," he said. He said he had been studying the EBASCO report which was made on future planning at the instance of the city commission. He said he believed it indicated a logical solution to the problem of a civic center and other city building problems. Mayor Adiel F. Stewart said he felt the proposal was a good one. He said if 2nd East was vacated between 4th and 5th South and the property all used it would be the "one good way to establish a civic center." |
