Show Meet Your Democratic Candidates The Salt Lake Times this week begins a pre-primary election series in which Democratic candidates can-didates for major political offices of-fices will be introduced to voters. This week the party's candidates candi-dates for the U. S. Senate nomination nomi-nation and for the nomination for the U. S. House of Representatives, Represen-tatives, are introduced. They are: Frank E. Moss and Brigham E. Roberts for the U. S. Senate, David Welling and M. Blaine Peterson for the House from the First District and David S. King for the House from the Second District. BRIGHAM E. ROBERTS Brigham E. Roberts is a former for-mer Third Judicial District attorney. at-torney. He served as District Attorney from 1941 to 1952. Prior to that time he was assistant district attorney. Since leaving the government gov-ernment post he has been engaged en-gaged in private practice. "Mr. Roberts, a member of e pioneer Utah family, received his law degree from the University of Utah in 1932. He was honored by election to the order of the Coif, an honorary honor-ary legal scholastic society. He is married to the former Virginia Dibblee of Salt Lake j City and they have three chil-I chil-I dren. The candidate is a grandson of the late Brigham Roberts, prominent promi-nent early figure in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has also been active in civic organizations in the Salt Lake area. FRANK E. MOSS Frank E. (Ted) Moss served as county attorney since 1951 and prior to that was a Salt Lake City judge. Mr. Moss is a native of Salt Lake City. He was graduated from Granite High School and the University of Utah and received re-ceived his law degree from the George Washington University in 1937. He has served with the Securities Securi-ties and Exchange Commission in Washington, was on the Salt Lake City bench for 10 years and has served almost eight years as county attorney. Mr. Moss is president of the National Association of County and Prosecuting Attorneys. Last year he served as president presi-dent of the Utah State Association Associa-tion of County Officials and now is president of the Salt Lake City Lions Club and a director i of the Utah Association for the ; United Nations. In addition Mr. Moss served in a number of other civic activities activi-ties including that of state director di-rector of the American Cancer Society drive. He married the former Phyllis Hart and they have four children. chil-dren. During World War II he served in the European theatre as judge advocate, being on active duty for four years. Welling is a former principal of Utah State School for the Deaf and now is owner of a travel bureau in Ogden. He is a graduate of Weber College Col-lege and Utah State University. He also was graduated from Gal-laudet Gal-laudet College in Washington, D.C., receiving his master's degree. de-gree. During World War II he was in the Navy and was attached to the staff of the Commander of the Fleet, West Coast. Mr. Welling is a member of the Ogden Chamber of Commerce, Com-merce, is vice president of the Associated Civic Clubs of Northern North-ern Utah. . He is a director of the Weber County Watershed Protective Association, secretary of the North Ogden Watershed Conservation Conser-vation Corp., and a member of the Ogden Kiwanis Club. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is married and has three children. M. BLAINE PETERSON M. Blaine Peterson is a former Ogden attorney now practicing in Monticello. Before going to Monticello about three years ago Mr. Peterson Peter-son was active in political and church affairs in Weber County. He, served 10 years as Weber County attorney and several years as County Democratic Chairman. In 1954 he was elected to the State House of Representatives and served throughout the 1955 session. Mr. Peterson was a member of the State Legislative Council. Mr. Peterson is a native of Ogden, was educated in Ogden City schools and Weber college. ' For several years he was secretary secre-tary treasurer of Weber College. He then began the study of law. The candidate received his law degree from George Washington University Law School. He then served in the bishopric of the Ogden Twelfth LDS Ward and was a stake mission president. He is married to the former Lucille Parry of Ogden. They have three children. DAVID S. KING David S. King is a Salt Lake City attorney. He is a graduate of the University Uni-versity of Utah and Georgetown University Law School. He has practiced law in Salt Lake City for 11 years. Mr. King formerly served two years as attorney for the Utah State Tax Commission and one year as law clerk to the late Justice Harold M. Stephens, the chief justice of the U. S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. - For the past nine years the candidate has been a member of the general superintendency of the Mutual Improvement Association Asso-ciation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has long been active in political po-litical and civic affairs in the Salt Lake area. Son of the late Senator William Wil-liam H. King, the candidate is , vice president of a Utah finance ( company. He served seven years, on the executive board of thej Great Salt Lake Council and Region Re-gion XII of the Boy Scouts of.
