Show Moss Touring State In Campaign For Democrat Nomination With Utah's primary election less than a month away, voters from the Beehive state are paying pay-ing closer attention to the campaign cam-paign issues this week. One candidate, Frank E. Moss, Democratic candidate for the U. S. Senate crossed and crisscrossed criss-crossed Utah in a specially chartered, char-tered, "Moss-mobile." At stops throughout Utah Moss spoke to gatherings on various issues. In Box Elder county the candidate candi-date criticized the Republicans for their "do nothing attitude" with reference to the farm problem. prob-lem. "The attitude of the Republicans Republi-cans is evidenced by Utah Republican Re-publican Senator Arthur Wat-kins' Wat-kins' remarks that there is no farm problem," Moss said. "How can the great problems of today be resolved if our leaders in Washington refuse even to recognize recog-nize that such problems exist?" Mr. Moss accused the Republicans Republi-cans and Mr. Watkins of "ostrich like" conduct. "It is time the people are represented by leaders who recognize the great problems prob-lems of our time." In Emery county, Moss told farmers, businessmen and public officials that he advocated a "non partisan, long range, permanent policy for agriculture." He said this policy would entail en-tail "rigid control of marketing of farm products, coupled with price supports for sagging farm prices through direct payments to farmers." He challenged the basic idea of I the present support program which involves the support of agricultural prices through purchases pur-chases of farm commodities on the open market. |
