Show PIOCHE IN LUCK- A private letter from Ploche, Nev., states that the Ferguson district is attracting the attention of the outside capitalists, and that the April Fool mine and three adjoining claims have been sold to eastern parties for $100, 000, the sale being consummated on Wednesday lagt. The Kansas Smelting and Reduction company's com-pany's works are shut down, and half of the working force at the mines laid off pending pend-ing negotiations between the Kansas company com-pany and the Pioche Mining & Smelting company for the purchase of the latter's property there. The weather has been excessively warm in the vicinity of Pioche for some time, but it is now quite cool and a great deal of prospecting pros-pecting i being done. ., CREEDE STILL BOOMING. Special dispatches from Creedo state that the new Colorado camp is still booming. boom-ing. Deep mining will be commenced com-menced next week on the Four Hundred Hun-dred and Consolidated. The Golden Buttes is showing up finely and a true fissure vein has been uncovered in the Blanche Evelyn, owned by Pueblo parties. CLAY OVER TIIE JORDAN. Mr. Otto Hudson is one of Lehi's mining men who never goes out with his eyes closed. He discovered a bed of clay over Jordan some time ago which has proven to be the best in the West for making vitrified brick. He is working to have it manufactured manufac-tured and placed on the market and has i several large orders ahead if he is successful. DIP3 AND SPURS. A great deal of work is being done at the - Osceola gravel mines with excellent results. The cyanide process has been tested in Arizona and has proved highly successful. A slieCpherder at American Fork, Dick Healy by name, brought down eome specimens from the canyon a day or so ago that run 35 ounces silver and 70 par cent lead. He says there is a well-defined vein of it, and feels pretty good over his find. |
