Show The Methodist Conference. Omaha, May 4. Bishop Warden presided at this morning's session of the Methodist conference. Rev. Mr. Wyley of New York conducted the devotional exercises. Bishop Foster then began the Episcopal address. He was listened to with profound attention. The bishop said the missions to foreign lands were in excellent condition all over the world. No schisms, nor no dissentions had appeared in the church during the past four years. The church had experienced a wonderful growth since the last general conference, con-ference, fully 400,000 members had been added, a greater gain than ever before known in the history of the church. The speech then touched on the vote in annual conference and churches upon the admission of women to the general conference, confer-ence, with the following result: Laity, for 235,G6S, against l(i,S43; ministerial. 5000,60!, against 4000,944. The speech warmly commended com-mended the establishment of the Methodist university at Washington and deprecated Chinese exclusion legislation. 'Ij.-m. . |
