Show EDISON HAS BEEN FROZEN OUT. Owns Only One-Tenth of the Stock of Company Controlling All Hi, Patents. Nbw York, Feb. 20. It is rumored in W all street that Thomas A. Edison is dissatisfied with the projected consolidation of the F.di-son F.di-son General Electric company and the Thompson-Houston company, and that lie will retire, if indeed he is not practically frozen out. It is said that he owns only one-tenth of the Edison company, which controls all his patent!, and with so small a portion of the whole stock he is practically powerless. The fact that he has only a comparatively com-paratively small amount of stocky interesting interest-ing of itself, as showing that Edison is sharing the fate of inventors generally. Other men have a majority of the stock and are drawing the. dividends. It is believed that, through ignorance ot the ways of Wall street, he was outwitted, aud some one else obtained control of his stock. No one has been able to find out definitely what Edison thinks of tlie consolidation scheme, as he refuses to discuss tlie mutter. By the terms of the consolidation the total capital stock of the Edison company will be exchanged for 1100,000,000 in stock in he new company and the Thompson. Houstou company geU $1S,400,000 stock in Hie new company. |
