For some time past threatening letters have been received by tho Qould family, evidently written by a well educated German. The writer evidently wus well acquainted With Jay Gould's career. Letters dated as far Lack as IsTil related incidents connected with the partnership part-nership between Qould and Jim Fisk and their government of the Eric railway. They speak of an incident on the road in which the writer's father and mother were injured, for which he demanded 110,000. The request was made that the money may be forwarded to a certain address ad-dress in Canada.
