Show THE INDUSTRIAL HOME. We presume the objects and motives which called the Industrial Home into being be-ing were most laudable. The place w as intended in-tended to be a refuge for those who wished to escape from the peculiar conditions then obtaining in I tab and feel that they were under the protection of the old ilag. That that purpose failed was not the fault of the originators. Many things that look promising promis-ing in theory fail in practice for reasons sometimes past finding out. The government govern-ment was justified in maintaining the institution, in-stitution, once it had been established, until un-til the utility of it was not merely questioned but found actually wanting. To this end one or two years did not suffice. Now, however how-ever that it can no longer be doubted, the conversion of the Industrial Home into a deaf mute . asylum will be accepted as an admirable and satisfactory arrangement. It will give more room to the university to thej west of which the present asylum stands, and it will afford better accommodations accommoda-tions to the deaf mutes. At the eanie time another monument of the Utah conflict will pass away. |
