Show A ST HIKE NEAR BINGHAM I.ate News from I.u Plata Annual Meeting- (o lS Ilebl. There was a strike near Bingham City a few days ago that may prove an important mineral discovery. Samples were received here a few days ago by a well known tirm of assayers, but no information would they give of the whereabouts of the property or of the value of the ore. The last issue of tne Bingham Bugle has the following regarding tlie strike: "An accidental strike, which may yet -prove a big mineral discovery, was made last week at the foot of the mountain which bounds Bingham City on the east. It seems William Bowden and L. A. Snow were digging dig-ging in the mountain side for water. At a depth of sixty feet they struck a white, clay-like formation, bridle and easily crumbled. crum-bled. They were surprised, on close inspection, inspec-tion, to lind that this pure white earth glistened glis-tened and shown with mineral indications. Samples wero sent to Salt Lake for assay and the result showed a trace of gold and a trace of silver. Further development! develop-ment! will be watched with much interest. in-terest. " I. a riat News. Word received from the La Plata is that the indications are favorable for ore in the Sun Down tunnel. The tunnel is now in sixty feet. They are also going down in the La I'lata shaft, having reached a depth of seventy feet. Some ore is being taken out mid the prospects are no less favorable than they have been hitherto. No reports are yet received from any of the other mines, there being no opportunity as yet. Work on the Honeyville mines has been Suspended for the winter on account of the heavy fall of snow in the mountains. The load- leading lo the mines have been covered cov-ered ami blockaded and (he mines themselves completely snowed under. The snow in the mountains seems to have fallen from six to ten feet on the level. In many places the ravines are drifted full, the snow being from folly to fifty feet in depth in places. Bees Richards is still at work on bis now mine on (he third bench of the mountains, about two miles southeast ot Brlgharu. The shaft is now sunk forty-live feet and the work still goes on satisfactorily. The mines owned by .lames Hansen, about two miles from Brigluim City, are again attracting at-tracting attention.
