Show THE FALL, RACES. Talent From All Varts lilling In La Blanche and the Champion. The annual meeting of the stockholders of the Driving park was held last evening. It was reported that none of the entries were filled yet. The meeting promises to be the most eventful yet held in the west and talent tal-ent from all parts of the country will dispute dis-pute for the 10,000 in purses. The possibility of a match between Jim Williams and George La Blanehe has awakened awak-ened interest in sporting matters and the event promises to he one of the sharpest ever decided in the roped square of the west. The friends and admirers of the champion feel confident of his ability to trive the Marine Ma-rine a very interesting "interview" and openly declare that unless the latter can lin-ish lin-ish his opponent in four rounds that he himself him-self will be put out. No one has yet been lucky enough to fathom the real merits of Jim Williams. In other words he has never yet been called upon to lay out the whole of his strength and endurance and for this reason rea-son he is j-et an unknown quantity in the prize rinsr. There is no telling of what he is capable nor will it be determined until he has met a foeman worthy his steel. La Blanche may have a soft snap a snap as soft as that which Morrison got onto. |
