Show . m . A STAGE ROBBER KILLED. One of the Men Suspected of Holding Up the Redding, Cal., Stage. Redding, Cal., Nov. 4. Bill Howard, w ho, with Abe Jones, is charged with robbing the stage between Lake View and Redding on October 7th, and also suspected of being concerned in the stage robberies of October 10th and 22d, was fchot and killed at his father's house, three miles from Redding, last night by officers, who have been watching watch-ing for 'him. A week ago Howard, Jones and a man named Jack Kicc were arrested near Alturas, Modoc county, but Jones and Howard escaped. .Howard's father was arrested, ar-rested, aud an officer concealed in the house w hen Howard went there shot him while he was turning to run away when he discovered the fact. Rice made a confession, implicating implicat-ing Howard and Jones in his sensational robberies rob-beries which occurred lately. The search for Jones will be continued. |
