Show Republican prospects in Iowa seem to be very bright, but they may be delusive. de-lusive. There is no evidence as yet m that the good men of the democratic 41 A party will place principle above party. . A democrat is usually so hide-bound that he will voto the ticket irrespective of the principles sacrificed by his act. The liquor element among the republicans repub-licans will largely support the democratic demo-cratic ticket, and king alcohol may come out of the contest triumphant arm in arm with his great ally, the democratic party. It must be distinctly dis-tinctly understood that if democracy shall win in that state this year it will be a whisky victory, one that will not be any indication of the political action of the commonwealth next year. |
