Show LATE NEWS BY WIRE. ALLIANCE BREACH WIDENING. The Farmers Convention to Result in a Series Ser-ies of Bitter Fights. Indianapolis, Nov. IS. The longer the alliance remains in session the further apart grow the various factions. This appears to be the situation this morning. It seems impossible im-possible to settle the various organizations down to any plan of action or to any united policy. The third-party fight ia in earnest and every move is with more or less direct reference to this main issue. A split in the alliance on the eab-treasury and land loan jrinciples now seems inevita-: inevita-: ble. The open meeting of the alliance this morning was a complete nzzie, ana iasiea but a few moments. When the executive session opened the trouble over the eub-treasury eub-treasury matter began. A communication was received from the execntive committee of the anti-sub-tre6ury alliance asking a hearing for the protest prepared by Hope and eamans, of Mis. souri, under instructions from the St. Louis convention last September. The McCune faction opposed any hearing, but Livingstone of Georgia moved the appointment ap-pointment of a committee of ffve to read the protest and report to the alliance whether or not it should be read. On this motion which was finally carried by a two-thirds vote a bitter fight wns made by the McCune men, who made the charge that the Georgia faction had attempted to assassinate McCune in Mississippi. The committee will call on members of the anti-sub-treasury committee this afternoon. after-noon. These gentlemen, it is said, will refuse re-fuse to let the protest be read except before a full alliance. McAllister will leave for Fort Worth, Tex., tomorrow, and from there will formulatd for the national meeting of the anti-sub-treasury alliance men that a separate organization be maintained all over the country. Refore an adjournment of the executive session was taken which shows the protest of the anti-sub-treasury people will receive very little consideration. . A resolution was adopted almost unanimously reaftiriuing the adherence of the alliance to every plank :n the Roachdale platform. The McCune resolution to reduce the representation rep-resentation one-half is likely to pass and is causing no end of uneasiness to the delegates dele-gates who came here with a narrow allowance of funds. It has developed that the treasury is nearly empty and unless the representation is reduced there will not be enough money to pay the delegates. The alliance has been falling off in many states and states the alliances have been unable un-able to furnish their quota to the asscsment to the national body. . m |
