A concurrent resolution was agreed to providing for' tho holiday ret ess from Wednesday the '3d until Friday the oth proximo. The method of designating the. changing of any comniitteo was changed in this. Formerly in the event of tho death of thu chairman, the second member succeeded to the office. This Is changed by giving the appointment ap-pointment of Hie chairman to the speaker. Springer of Illinois suggested the desig. nation of the nuadro-ceuteunial committee should be changed to the committee on Columbian Col-umbian exposition. Enloe of Tennessee, offered & resolution for the appointment of a special committee of Ave members to inquire into tho charges made against the commissioner of pensions and the administration of his otllea which was referred to the committee on rules.
