Show The chcral society. Ttas V.iter Kaptarounlr Kntertainad bjr iom's Masioat Tlnt. Apollo never appeared iu better roico or more charming mantle than at tho recitals under the auspices of Director Direc-tor Stcplious and the Choral society last evening, and when the labor of the visiting scientists and sophists shall have been completed the melody of a night iu Zion's tabernacle will endure as ono of its most tnrilling reminiscences. reminiscen-ces. Although hastily arranged it was an artistic triumph. The great organ under the magic touch of Prof. Thomas Eadeliffo never acquitted itself more admirably, the Choral society never appeared to greater advantage while the single numbers, tho duets and selections se-lections by the Ladies Mandolin club were all of the highest order. Tho honors of the evening however were divided between Miss Lily Snyder and Mr. II. G. L.istou, both beiug twice recalled. Miss Snyder betrays a genius arid native qualities that at once commend her to the jealous attention of the masters of ihu limbic art, while Mr. Kaflon is gifted with a tenor to Kootho "the soul in purgatory." Miss Lincoln's solo from Krnaui elicited an enthusiastic twrc, as did tho duet by Mrs. Li..ie Ldwards and Mi ,s Viola Pratt whoso opening number was a most dillicult one. The selections by tile Ladies' Mandolin club under the baton of Mis3 Kila Olson, corirlituled another charming fealuro of the programme, pro-gramme, tho excellence of which was nmphasiwsd by the solo and full ch iriu by Mrs. Lruee Pugsley and tho society. |
