Show committeeJaumess. Aildresi of the Espublican Territorial OoruniitUe to the Toople of Utah. EEPUBLIOAN PRINCIPLES DEFIDED An Invitation to Citizens of all Olassei to Unite Themselves With thi Party of Program, To the lVnplu cf I'Ulc-'I'he cntimeiii in fiivor of orirani.injr jinlitical parlies in L'tali in harmony with tiuliunal partiirs has attaini'tl Htich force and uxprtMsiou limt it cannot I hi delayed or rtiMsted. 'i ho liberal and the people' parlies were the outgrowUi of Hie conditions existing when limy were formed, but tlm changed conditions condi-tions of political ali'airs in Utah leaves no rational grotiud for their maintenance, mainten-ance, and wit caunot too soon drop these old organisations wiMi their dead ishiict, their narrovr tinlila of discussion, and thuir memories of social and political politi-cal bitterueHS. The republicans of Salt Lake City have organized and appointed a local committee, and have appointed the undesigned a temporary territorial committee to act as a medium of organization organ-ization until the republicans of Utah, in genoral convention, can complete their organization, formulate their platform ami appoint their committee. We novr seek the aid and active cooperation co-operation of all citizens in the territory who am willing to unite with us in organizing or-ganizing the national republican party in Utah, and who accept these general Views, to wit: That the lirue has come to abandon local organizations and form parties composed of those who hold political opinions in harmony with national parties, par-ties, without regard to their former political aililiations. That the general principles of the tiatioual republican party nre those best adapted to promote the welfare of our territory, protect its industries and products, pro-ducts, and secure to its people the just rewards of their labor. The length of the national republican platform prevents its production in full ' in this rail, but the following extract announces a political principle which is vital to the prosperity of our territory, to wit: "We are uncompromisingly in favor of the American system of protection. The protective system must be maintained; main-tained; its abandonment has always been followed by general disaster to all interests except those of the usurer and the sheriff." The principle of protection to American Ameri-can products and labor is of the highest importance to the vast agricultural, wool growing and ftocfc raising interests inter-ests of our territory. It is of erjual importance to our great mining interests, w hich furnish 10 large an amount of remunerative labor and yield such au important part of our income. Without protection we cannot successfully suc-cessfully establish manufacturing in lltali. With It we may hope to utilize ' : ' the ahundance of material our territory allordK and employ the labor required to utilize it. The republicans of Utah will he unanimously un-animously in favor of renionoti.in ail-rer, ail-rer, ami of the free coinage of Atuerican silver. They will also claim that thu American product should be protected in all the lines to which it is adapted, including its use as a medium of exchange, ex-change, under the republican principle of protection. They will also assert and recognize the dignity of labor and the necessity of proper legislation to protect its iu-tei'e.sl. iu-tei'e.sl. That home laborers and contractors, who contribute to the pubiiu funds, are. justly entitled to the preference in all publio works, and that Utah work should go to Utah workmen. In view of the peculiar history of Utah in the past, aud the fears of many of its citizens for the future, tiie republicans repub-licans of Utah will announce that they are opposed to the disfranchisement of any citizen except for crime of which he shall have been convicted by duo process of law, and that they will favor the free exercise of the power of aui- nesty to ail citizens tusiranrnisea on account ac-count of polygamy or polygamous relations, rela-tions, who will obey aud uphold the laws of the United States. In uniting with the national republican republi-can party we join a party which can point to a history and achievements unequalled un-equalled in the history of any other political po-litical party of the world. Since its first organization it has been the advocate advo-cate of freedom, of equal rights to all citizens and the loader in all the progressive pro-gressive measures which characterize nearly a third of a century, and mark an era of unsurpassed national prosperity. prosper-ity. We need have no fears about uniting un-iting politically with such a party. S e invite all citizens who agree with us in these general principles to hold precinct meetings and appoint precinct delegates to county conventions, which can appoint county delegates to a territorial ter-ritorial convention, where the territorial organization can be completed, and the platform of the party formulated.
