The peach and apricot trees of Inyo are all loaded with blossoms. Some good placer diggings have been j found in Monroe canyon, near Dun ' (.ten, Humboldt county. The lleno papers say that many sheep which have been sheared are dying dy-ing from the cold. It is inexcusable, cruelty to shear sheep so early in the ; season. ,1. I'. Phelan of the lirm of Mesick & Phelan. San Francisco, fell down stairs at the Winnemui'ca hotel, H'innemiicca, last Sunday evening and sustained injuries in-juries from which he died about noon Monday. T. L. Haker arrived from Kansas last week, bringing with him twenty-two twenty-two "Hob Whites." ISeven of the birds died on the road. The rest were turned loose in J. !-. Borland's field. For the benefit of those who have never seen any of the species it may be stated that in color and size they resemble generally gener-ally the California iiail, but have not the top-knot of the lalter.
