At Work On a New Time Table-Two Table-Two Miles of Track to Lay let-Notes let-Notes and Personals, The broad gaugo train service on the Utah & Northern will begin on Sunday, October General Malinger Kesseguie said this morning that only about two miles of track yet remained to be laid, and that would bo finished up in the next two days. Arrangements have been made for running broad gunge trains on the 5th of next mouth. Exactly the same seudulo as now will bo used until the roadbed is settled and things are gotten in good running shape generally. Mr. Kesseguie said that just as soon as the new schedule could be perfected Salt Lako City would be made the terminal ter-minal instead of Ogden. The line from Pocatello north is standard gaugo and traius will then be run directly through from Salt Lake City to liutte. For some two weeks after broad gaugo trains are started on tho Utah & Northern passengers will be transferred trans-ferred at Deweyville for Logan and oilier Cache valley points. Tho completion com-pletion of the widening of the gauge of this branch, ho said, would not take more than two weeks. A number of very pretty new depots are being built along tho line now. The most important of these are at Logan, liighain, Richmond and Wil-lards. Wil-lards. The entire cost of tho remodeling of Utah & Northern, Mr. Kesseguie said, would be about two and one-half million mil-lion dollars. It would, he said, make a vast difference in the freight business. Thev would not only be saved 214 miles haul, around by the way of Green River, but also the consequent delay. It Ik a I.iek-Out. Mr. Wilson, of the Union Pacific general gen-eral olliees, I his morning received a telegram from Fred Wild, jr., ge neral freight agent at Denver, saying that there was no strike at that place. It was, ho alleged, a lock-out, and the company had all the men they wanted and weie receiving and handling freight as usual. Mr. Wilson said that sineo'tho reported strike they received re-ceived reports of freight billed through just as usual. Some Queer Fish. The Cheyenne Leader says: lhe Ln-ion Ln-ion Pacilie is shipping every day laborers labor-ers from this place to western points. The strongest demand for men at present pres-ent is from Kvanston. Some queer lish bob up for tho rido with no idea of handling pick, shovel or tamping bar. Yesterday eighteen men, mostly just from Denver and Omaha, applied for work and transportation. The Thintle Extension. The Thistle valley extension 'of the HioCrando Wostern is completed to ludianola, seventeen miles from Thistle nnd the company will at once begin to run regular trains. Mr. Landis left for San Peto today to make arrangements for excursions to this city October 2nd and Oth inclusively. The Cheyenne & Northern. The grade of the Cheyenne & Northern Nor-thern is completed to Fisher, the junction junc-tion of the Cheyenne tSi Northern with the Northwestern, the track-laying will commence -about the 0th of October, ami it will be linished fifteen or twenty days later. linlluay Note.
