Show ALMOST HEART BROKEN. IIow a Young Man Nearly Married His Sistrr. New' York, Aug. 14 When the widow Emily Goodwin married wealthy Thomas Collins of Irviugton, near N wark, N. J., she brought to him a little child, which was her orphan neice. Mr. Collins' first child by his wife was a littlo boy named Henry, who grew to jianhood in the daily companionship of his mother's orphan neice. A lew days ago he told his mother that ho and the young girl, Nellie by name, had exchanged ex-changed affections and were going to be married. The mother broke completely down and confessed her shame to him yesterday that he was about to marry his sister, for her alleged neice was none other than her own daughter, the offspring of her girlhood's shame. The son rushed out into the adjacent woods,1 from whence a pistol shot was soon heard. He had attempted suicide, but unsuccessfully. Tho ball plowed a deep furrow through his scalp. |
