Show A. O. U. W. Membership Statistics Showing tho Order's Growth Notes. The growth of the order during the past year has been very encouraging. Minnesota Minne-sota added 1,200 members, giving a total of 7,000; Ontario gained 3,499, 802 in February; Pennsylvania gained 399; Kentucky, 39; Indiana, 310; Iowa, 99; New York, 3,0-23; Illinois, 391; Missouri, 128; Michigan, 3,038; California, 5; Georgia, Alabama, etc., 448; Kansas, 701; Oregon, 237; Maryland and New Jersey, 735; Texas, 733; Colorado, New Mexico, etc., 359; Nebraska, 1,305; Massachusetts, more than 2,000, gaining 598 in March; Ohio lost 51; Wisconsin, 130; Tennessee, 673; Nevada, 14; Minnesota, Minne-sota, 482. The total membership of the order April 1 was 235,789; the total amount disbursed, $471,135.55. The postponed dedication of the Unchurch Un-church monument took place at St. Ixmis, June 11. Tho ceremonies were carried out at Exposition hall, and consisted in part of the unveiling of a miniature monument erected on the stage for the purpose. The most brilliant orators of the whole order were present, and the best talent of the city furnished music for the occasion. The graud lodge of Kansas has adopted The Kansas Workman as the official organ of tha A. O. U. W. of Kansas, and after April 1 it will be mailed to every member of said jurisdiction, to be paid for by the grand lodge. The paper will be enlarged and every effort will be made to make it a worthy exponent of tho order in that state. The grand recorder of Michigan forwarded forward-ed the sum of $514.88 to the grand recorder of Dakota on tho last day of March. This was the amofint received on account of tho Dakota appeal fund from March 26 to 31 inclusive. The disbursements of the beneficiary fund of the A. O. U. W. in Illinois during April amounted to $fi0,030, which, added to the tola! disbursements up to tho end of the month previous, makes a grand total of 3424, Kl 1.75 paid to beneficiaries during the grand lodge year. The sum of $3,500 of the Upchnrch memorial me-morial fund has been placed at interest by the sunreme trustees upon securities approved ap-proved by the supreme lodge. Tha balance bal-ance of same fund in bands of John J. Acker, supremo recorder, April I was $1,033. |
