Hcrriot, right of way agent, has been transferred to Portland, Ore., and will in future report to H. 1$. Gates, resident etiginoor of tlio Union Pacilic lines iu Oregon. H. U. Carpenter, assistant engineer under Resident Engineer McCartney, lias also been transferred to Portland, and will report to Engineer Gates. Both changes wero made on account of tho necessity of increasing the force on that division of the Union Pacific caused by the construction of tho new lines to Gray's harbor. C. E. Pearson will succeed Mr. Carpenter Car-penter as assistant engineer of this division.
