Tho secretary of the interior today approved the apportionment of money appropriated appropri-ated for surveys of tho public lands for tho year ending Juno HO, 181)'.. Tho amount allotted to each state and territory, ter-ritory, with the increase or decrease, when any exist, as compared with last year, is' ns follows: Arizona, $.10(10; California. $10,000; Colorado. !5,(HM. North Dakota, $40,000; South Dakota, $40,000, increase, $20,000; Idaho, $',,0,-000, $',,0,-000, increase, $10,000; Lousiana, none, decrease. $7000; Minnesota, $10,000, Increase, In-crease, $.')000: Montana. $7.V00, increase, in-crease, $00,000; New Mexico, $10,000, increase. $2000; Oregon. $20,000, increase, in-crease, $10,000; Utah, $K000, incn aie, $3000; Washington, $.'i.n00, increase, $lii.0iK); Wyoming, $20,000, increase, $10,000. , , , The reserve fund for contingencies is $27 000, an increase of $2000 over last year. The sum of 4o.0O0is allotted for examination in survey. The total thus appropriated is $f.5.000. Last year the appropriation was $1h;i,000. The secretary secre-tary in his letter to the commissioner of the general land office says: "It is to be remembered that if any portion of the moneys appropriated to these several states and territories is found to be in excess of that actually needed, it can be changed at any time to meet the demands of some other requiring re-quiring morn. You will therefore consider con-sider yourself not absolutely controlled by the present apportionment if circumstances cir-cumstances should arise demanding a change." |
