MURDER AtNocaTELLO, i II. W. Went Shut at a Saloon Dance hy a Deputy I'lilted Ktatea Marah.il. Poiatei.lo, Idaho. Nov. art. II. V. West, a young machinist was killed on Monday night by Deputy United States Marshal Charles Phelps in a quarrel at a dance at the ",Vi5'' saloon. Phelps was dancing with one of tho inmates, and West was having a good time with another, and kept on the floor after being asked to sit down. West refused to sit down and Thelps attempted to make him, w hen West knocked him down, Phelps drew a revolver and tired, shooting West through the heart, kMling him instantly. Jn tho excitement l'helps made, his escape and took tho north-' north-' bound train, but was caught at Eagle Hock and brought back to Blackfoot. and lodged in jail. West leaves a w ife and several children. His remaius were tiken to Salt Lake.
