Telegrams wero eeut Senators Woo!eotu and Toller and Congressman Townsend last night refuting re-futing the statement made by Mr. Myers boforo the ways and means committee com-mittee to the effect that all western miners and smelters favored free importation impor-tation of lead ore. The telegram was signed by ex-Senator Hill, ex Congressman Congress-man Symes, ex-Governor J. li. Grant, ex-Governor John Evans, Governor Cooper, I. D. Porter, president of tho chamber of commerre, 1). II. Moffat, president of the Rio Grande railway and the First National bank. It claims to voice the sentimont of 3,000,000 western people in the demand for one and a half cent per pound tarill on all lead oio imported into the United States. |
