The theater thea-ter has been entirely rebuilt, on a larger and more pactical scale, under the direction di-rection of Autenschaeger, a machinist of the opera house of Munich, for the "Passion Play." It has a large, closed stage, with a curiam, surrounded on the sides and front by platforms and colonades. 'The open air width altogether alto-gether is 1)8 feet, depth T." feet. The scenery is all new, painted by Purghurt of Vienna. The auditorium is of tho same width, with a depth of 100 feet, and seats about 4000. As in the old theater, only half is under cover, the front portion being in tlio open air. All the seats are numbered. The price lo tho closed portion is $1.50 to $'2..")0. and the uncovered seats twenty-live cents to 1 .23. The players, numbering the children in the tableaux, number 1(10. and of the sixteen principal characters ten are played bv the saino pa-sons as 1 efore. Joseph Blaier takes the part of Christ for a third time. The delineators of Pilate, Peter and Caiphas are also unchanged. un-changed. One familiar tigure is missed in the person of (iiegor Leehner, who has performed tho part of Judas since lSijO, but this year, on account of advanced ad-vanced age. he iias been given the less active part of Simon of Bethany. Judas will be played bvZwinek. who formerly represeuteil St. 'John. The burgomaster's burgomas-ter's daughter plays the "Virgin Mary" for the lirst time. In the 51") costumes reipiired for the plav are some very elaborate ones, maile in the village. This work has lasted since September, costing 7."it)ll. A large portion of the theater is occupied by nineteen large dressing rooms. The p'ay itself is praelieatly the same as ten years ago. A few tableaux have been omitted.
