Show A STRANGER'S VIEWS Wliut is Thought of Salt Lake City by People All Over the Country. HOTEL DINNER TABLE GOSSIP. Millions of Capital Will be Invested Here Within the Next Pew Weeks. A conversation this morning with Mr. J. W. Hamm resulted in obtaining for Th Timks some valuable and most reliable information. Mr. Hamm is an old resident, of Ht. Paul, Minnesota, where for the past fifteen years he nas handled real estate for himself and for his numerous friends. During last winter Mr. Hamm spent a portion of his time at the delightful resort on tho Florida coast, Bt. Augustine, and he says that at the table of the Ponce de Leon hotel he met over a hundred representatives of almost every state in the Union. These people were mostly business busi-ness men, and the conversation frequently turned upon desirable points for investment. Halt Uike iuvarinbly had the call, and, as Mr. Hamm put it, when people from so many different sections of the country all agree nion such a subject there must lie something in it worthy of investigation. Ijater in the sense n Mr. Hamm went to the Arkansas Hot springs, anil there he found the same state of affairs as at HI. Augustine Bult Lake was the one subject of conversation. , Mr. itamiii has traveled oxtensivoly all ovor the country from Minnesota to Texas, and has visited all of the so-called boom towns. It was throughlthe advice of ex-Oovernor West that he was induced to come to Halt Lake, and during tho short space of two weeks s'nee his arrival he has fully satisfied himself that Halt Lake is with-ont with-ont exception the best place in the country Unlay for investments. He considers that pro-rty iiere, as a rule, is cheap, and lie does not believe tliat prices, no matter how high they may go, will resell the top notch within the next two years. Mr. Hamm showed tho reporter a telegram from C. H. Hcott. his partner, which ho room veil this morning. Mr. Hcott states that he is on his vay to Halt Lake with two gentlemen from Detroit De-troit nnd two from Cincinnati, and that they will arrive tomorrow night. These gentlemen, said Mr, Hamm, iswsess ample means and are all intending in-tending buyers of real estate. Mr. Hcott was formerly in the wholesale tea trade in Detroit, whore ho made a large amount of money. He has declared his intention of selling out every dollar of his interest in Detroit and investing it all in Halt Lake, where ho will make his future homo. Mr. Hamm is authorized by a number of his personal friends, all of whom possess capital, to niHke invest men! for them, and he is prepared to do so. Yesterday he disposed of 800 acres four mill south of the city for 430 on acre, ten acres in ten-acre plat A for $I.MK)iin acre, and five acres in five-acre plat C it r fWl an acre. He is also negotiating for forty-five acres near Thirteenth Houlli street, close to Liberty park, for which lie exiiects to get $:IIKI0 an acre. M r. Hamm is in receipt re-ceipt of information that six Kansas City gentlemen, gen-tlemen, all of whom are known iieinonnlly to him, will ho in. Halt Lako within the next ten days. These gentlemen have plenty of money and will come here prepared to invest a million at least, |
