Goodwin will appear at the Salt Lake theater in his latest comedy com-edy success, "A Gold Mine," which has been, from all accounts, adding to his reputation aud filling the theaters with delighted people. ... This play, written by Messrs. Brander, Mathews aud George II. Jessop, is founded on legitimate lines and is a high class comedy, something entirely different from anything Goodwin , has ever been seen in here. As is well known, Mr. Goodwin has long had aspirations as-pirations toward something of this kind aud has at last determined to postpone no longer, but seek tho promotion ho wishes without further delay. The verdict ver-dict so far rendered upon his new departure,' de-parture,' is that he has realized more than his most sanguine friends- ever predicted. Mr. Goodwin impersonates the character char-acter of Silas K. Woolc.ot, a Californiau, who goes to England to dispose of a gold mine to an English company. The sceuc takes placo iu the house of Sir Everard Foxwood, in London. The interest in-terest begins with the rise of the curtain cur-tain iu. the tirst act, and is admirably sustained to the end of tho last. Always a favorite here, thero js every assurance that iu his efforts to ascend in his art, Mr. Goodwin will be encouraged en-couraged by tho theater-goers of this city. "Zltl ZAG." The uow three act musical farce comedy, com-edy, "Zig Zag," is entitled to rank at the head and front of its class. Its music is fresh and of a high order; its lines aro bright aud sparkling; its action ac-tion is lively aud mirth provoking; and its specialties aro very clever. It is thoroughly clean aud without blemish and its situation and .liuiaxes show a wide departure from conventional forms. They aro not only very amusing amus-ing entirely unexpected. "Zig Zag" will be the attraction at the Graud Opera House next Saturday. |
