Show I I Rafts Of Trouble I Darn Dam Barton Creek Culvert Screening Would Insure I Safety And Floods A crew of 12 men after spend spend- spending ing ng Wednesday afternoon Thurs Thurs- Thursday Thursday day and Friday trying to dislodge a boys boy's raft and other debris from underneath the long culvert at Center and First East streets Bountiful were finally successful at 6 p. p m. m Friday The dam darn caused by a great col collection col- col collection lection of miscellaneous articles including two rafts a kitchen table logs galoshes shoes toys and tin cans caused an overflow of Barton ton Creek which flooded the streets for two and a half days An electric drill through the cement from above made a hole Friday which enabled the work work- workmen workmen men to fasten cables from pulleys to the raft which was dislodged by the city bulldozer Damage to the streets was considerable and workmen and nearby residents were inclined to disagree with city officials that the cost would be negligible Unless the culvert is screened or barred it lepre represents represents a real danger to children of the vicinity |
