territory has been registered in recent years than that which was taken k e n yesterday afternoon in the th odices of the fish and game commissioner at the joint building and which culminated in the organization of the utah agricultural society under this head there Is an amalgamation of 0 all the societies in utah that find their origin in farm life lutc with one possible exception the irrigation companies are tor for the reason as a delegate characterized it they are not in touch nor in sympathy with the plain and practical methods of 0 the farmer only in s so far as lie Is made to pay toll into their treasury this sentiment encountered no opposition and till icil the state society adjourned jour ned it was nas with an ei expressed pressed determination to buckle on its armor roll up its sleeves and demand such legislation at the hands of the next general assembly as to protect and promote the farming industry in all its manifold branches OBJECT OF THE THC MEETING NG the a society such euch as that outlined by the chair as the best beat means for overcoming evils that asserted themselves and most of which may be overcome by patriotic and intelligent legislation the organization must have a general name however as those who were eligible to membership would not pay for the maintenance 04 0 the society unless it was made plain to them that it all the interests gulped out and predicted that the amalgamation would boon become sn an formidable that agencies now antagonistic v with ath the farming industry must succumb for deais the various societies growing out of the arlous arious branches of oc farm life had labored to overcome these ells without tangible result and it was now ow time to alting them together as a unit and as a unit work for the ends in and we tural college desired to join with avith the society on irrigation they could do so by paying the usual initiation fee wherever in the speakers opinion the irrigation enterprises that natural even avenue ile through which to continue the attack attach upon evils that threatened the farmer armar and 1 if this was not recognized alter at ter what haj been accomplished with the aid of the farmer armer then the college had better be abolished FARMERS WITH THE COLLEGE delegate austin believed tho the tanners farmers 0 f the territory would concur in all that had been sald said and done in the meeting and bould n i defuse to amalgamate with the irrigation society which was not in sympathy with the plain practical methods of the farmer N X D jensen stated that he had called on the secretary of 0 the irrigation commission to ascertain that ahat had boen done but the latter had bad turned the query find and wanted to know what the farmer was going to do and then called attention to a scheme for or holding a convention on the eve of the meeting ot of the to lay plans f or legislation the legislation advocated by the irrigation people thought the speaker would te too much in their favor and not enough in favor of the farmer and he advocated that a rival convention be held hebl the same day for the farmers to express their wants DETERMINE TO ORGANIZE after further encourage the development of the agricultural ill sources of ut utah promote mote trade by producing it a better and nore more uniform article in larger quantities and to promote the social inte interests tests of 0 the agriculturists of utah any ag ae ri of utah may become a member of the society on receiving a majority of the votes thereof and an tee fee of SO 50 cents the following off
