Show U. S. MINES DROP CLOSE SKIRMISH TO PINNEY CREW U. S. Mines were handed a 7-6 defeat Sunday by the Pinney crew in a regular league game and won the exhibition game by a score of 14-13. Pinney won the game in the last of the ninth. With the score tied at six-all, Campana opened with a single. Pete Huxford sacrificed him to second, Owen walked and Ostler Ostl-er hit a double to score the winning win-ning run. McCausland went the full nine Innings for Pinney giving up only 7 hits. Frank Shepherd did likewise like-wise for the Mines, allowing only 9 hits. Krissmari and Adams hit well for the locals, each getting two for five. The exhibition game was a regular track meet, each team getting sixteen hits. The Mines emerged on the long end of the 14-13 score. U. S. Mines plays at Mldvale this afternoon to wind up their first half schedule. . v |
