at the silver kim king I 1 mill and a record reporter yesterday made a visit to the property J breckenridge fleming foreman of the mill very courteously showing allowing the rt reporter porter about we started in on the top or tram floor where a covered tram feet long connects with the ore bin of 2000 2500 tons capacity this is one of the finest ore inns bins in the country leing being supplied up plied with twenty one chutes iad a hd resting on a foundation of solid masonry nearly eight feet high these solid walls walis of ma conry are noticeable in the construction of the mill throughout all the second class comes through the tram and is dumped into the ore bin which holds enough for a ten days run day and night scales are also located on this floor and ever every y car is is w weighed before 1 going I 1 to the crusher the present run of one shift sends through about tons per day on this floor arg ulso also located the store house for mill supplies and two large blake crushers fittim sitting on top of an ore bin of tons capacity on the second floor is located the first revolving tran trammel imel shiell takes out all fine stuff before 11 going to the rolls here are also located two sets of cornish roughing I 1 g rolls which crush the ore to the size of one half inch i two elevators and an automatic sampling device are being put in the latter will sample the ore every fifteen minutes of the day the ore is taken from the rolls and elevated to the top of the mill where it i if discharged 11 into two series of five revolving 11 screens each which supplies twelve jigs on the next floor below on the third floor are twelve hartz jigs and two sets of finishing rolls and two four compartment hydraulic classifiers which cl classify assily all the fine ore into five different sizes izes on the next floor below is located an ore bin of 12 tons capacity which takes product from the finishing rolls also four ore fins bins which take the product from the jigs on the floor above and four fine hartz jigs 11 the machine shops are on this floor which are equipped with a full assortment of first class tools for mill purposes the next floor down carries four huntin huntington mills fed from ore bins under the finis finishing it rolls by four automatic feeders these mills reduce the pulp through a 20 mesh screen and this prod product act is then elevated by two elevators into a large 7 hydraulic classifier sixty feet long and containing ten compartments this classifies the ore into eleven different sizes and from this it is distributed on the various tables underneath the en gine room is on this floor supplied with two modern frasel frase r chalmers corlis engines the larger of which is a cross compound capable of delivering n horse power the smaller one is a tandem compound of hor horsepower horse e power capaci capa eit tN these engines are so I 1 connected conic c ted to the mill b friction pully and cutout cut out couplings that the mill or any portion of it can be run by bv either anrine en engine rine this room also contains a li light dynamo which supplies the light m for the mill boardinghouse boarding house and t the he various building around the works the en engine aine room is supplied with all the modern appliances switchboard switch board speed recorders grages and in fact everything required in a first class clash plant the floors and wood work are neatly painted and covered with matting and cleanliness and order mark every portion of the structure on the ground around floor the table room has au just st been remodeled here are six wilfley tables and live five improved six bix foot frue van ners which take the pr product from the hydraulic classifiers mentioned above adjoining this room is an annex sixty feet square one portion of which is used for ore bins for holding the concentrates made by the mill the capacity of the bin is tons the ore Is dried by large dryers in the ore bin heated by bv exhaust steam on the same floor adjoining the ore bin are twelve canvass tab tables es fi fifty ft y feet long r over which are treated all the slimes made in the various parts of the in mill ill preparations are being made here to add twenty four more inore canvass tables adjoining the room loom on this floor is the bol boiler I 1 er room having I 1 two foot high pressure return tubular boilers the room is equipped with all conveniences with feed water heaters w water ater meter for registering 11 the daily consumption of water barometers for meas aring the temperature of flue erases scales for wei w eughing hin the daily consumption of coal etc the mill building is heated by steam electric lighted and whitewashed and painted throughout 7 out connected with the tail ra race tee of the mill is an automatic sampler which takes samples of the mill tailings every fifteen minutes considerable new work w ork is being 1 added and foreman fleming who took charge last january expects to have all contemplated improvements made and in running order by the first of january next the in mill is is certainly run on a scientific and systematic I 1 basis and is a model one the building is feet wide w ide and feet deep with a vertical height of feet three new tire fire stations have been erected outside on the level with the top floor and two more are to be constructed at once there are five inside the mill all under pressure of 2 pounds to the inch A reservoir of gallons is kept full for fire purposes only two additional water tanks are located on the hill opposite the mill containing gallons each these are for the mill supply alone and are connected with an 8 inch pipe from the alliance tunnel the pipe line is controlled by an automatic valve which admits water to the mill is as required outside the mill and connected ky by a short covered tramway is a new cl change iange room heated by steam and equipped with bath tubs wash basins etc for the convenience of the emp employ loyes es uso assay aasa office complete in e every ery detail A new mill office building of four rooms has just been completed and nicely furnished throughout foreman fleming r and alsaye sa r hampton will occupy this building at the mine foreman dailey daile y informed th writer that everything was moving alon along 1 I satisfactorily and smoothly with no new devel other than the splendid showing
