Show AT THE sacramento during the past six months important disclosures h have ave been made at the sacramento at mercur concerning concertin which nothing 0 has been said in the press 0 of f this city and regarding ing which but little is known in mining 7 circles in mining operations at mercer it has conr long been considered that nothing of value was to t 0 be found below the silver vein above which the great gold zones of the camp have been found and worked in the past recent discoveries in id the sacramento however have proven the existence of gold ore below the silver vein and although the exploration of this second auriferous zone has been limited enough has been done to prove that it is of splendid proportions and that this belt in its extent of value may prove to be as large and extensive as that above the silver vein which has made the camp of mercur so justly famous during the past six or eight years in the sacramento THE MINING REVIEW is informed the silver vein has been penetrated in several places blow the mill tunnel level and under it a vein of gold ore has been uncovered at a number of points and this body has been sunk upon to a depth of tw twenty enta feet in the different openings 11 the whole whole being beina a paying milling proposition the minera eral being an oxidized and talcy dalcy product which carries average values of 10 in gold to the ton the metallic consents contents of the ore ran ranging cring from 5 to in the yellow metal asa A L a matter of fact the size of the new gold belt is not yet determined although one has been sunk upon it to a depth of sixty feet the ledge being lean in places and yet the bottom of the is in a fine body of good pay ore the indications being that with f urther further exploration it may be found tb that at flip ti p gold deposition below the silver vein vein is as great as that above it and it is well known that this is go so extensive as almost to defy measurement or computation comp this important discovery certainly adds much to the life and value of the sacramento and may mean much for the southern portion of the district and bears out the assertion made by an eminent mining expert to the effect that gold measures of pay gold ore will be found at intervals in the sunshine country until the quartzite is reached D T J huntsman has returned from western iron county where he made important I 1 discoveries in a new mining 11 district soon to find a place on the map under the name of balanis Sa lanis the virgin 6 camp being not far distant from modena a station on the utah pacific road the new discovery embraces a strong quartz ledge t carrying ten inches of pay roe rock k at the surface which shows free gold assays essays disclosing values of ounces in silver and in gold to the ton mr huntsman made five locations on the ledge for himself prof W H W H hild and others and is sanguine that he lias has stumbled on to a bonanza proposition |
