Show THE CHECKMATE fline I 1 I 1 in describing the checkmate gold mine at pearl idaho a prospective bonanza in which joe H young of this city and F L chapin and other ogden citizens are interested the pearl correspondent of the boise statesman says the plans and specifications for the checkmate mill have been made the erection of the same will be be begun 15 gun at once the in mill ill will wil I 1 be erected feet west of the shaft and will be of such size as to accommodate 10 stamps and the necessary machinery but for the present only five pound stamps two wilfley tables and one frue vanner ore crusher and self feeder will be put in the te mill will be as perfect as money can make it the power used will be gasoline the hoisting work on the shaft will raise rais e the or ore P to such height that the same will be handled automatically mati cally from the time it leaves leaven the hoist until the concentrates are loaded for shipment water for the mill will be piped from two different gulches this requires two carloads of pipe the shaft will be sunk feet deeper at once the hoisting works will be capable of sinking feet the machinery for both mine and mill will be five carloads the order for the lumber has been placed with joe reed of dry buck the grading 11 of the mill site will begin wednesday the work on the mill will be pushed on rapidly as the machinery will be on the ground in a few days it is being shipped from san francisco the pipe is coming coining from chicago it is expected daily some time aro ago your correspondent gave your readers a slight description of the ore bodies in the checkmate since then development has been in progress 11 and mill tests made both at pearl and salt lake that have fully bully demonstrated the checkmate to be a great agrest mine the lower level shows an average of ten inches of shipping ore the full length of the drift over feet in length netting over per ton in addition to this large body of shipping ore the ledge carries carries an average of 31 feet of elegant concentrating ore assaying an average 17 of 28 per ton which in the Levi anthan mill at pearl saved 88 per cent of assay value and concentrative five to one mr wyman the present superintendent has been in charge of the mine for the past two years A great deal of credit is due mr air wyman for the present contemplated improvements prove ments it was through his efforts the owners agreed to sink the shaft he is also a capable mill man and the mill run made at pearl proved to some of the owners who were on the ground that their large body of ore left in the mine which would not bear shipping was a big thing itself when properly milled hence the new mill mr wyman will have charge of both mine and mill and having years of experience with quartz mills is the assurance of the checkmate mill being a success during the erection of the mill the shaft willbe will he sunk feet making a total depth of feet |
