Show MINING circles in colorado are agitated over the outcome of the eight hour law soon to go into effect in the centennial state concerning which the ores and metals says the eight hour law which goes into effect in this state june 15 is being earnestly ais discussed by the operators of mines mills mill 4 and nd smelters shelters sm elters whose business will be affected by it some camps are already working 11 under the eight hour system and there are others where it can doubtless be adopted with very little friction but no attempt is made to disguise the fact that grave difficulties are likely to arise in some instances it is asserted that there are numer numerous ofis mills now running 24 hours a day with two shifts that will have to close down if the proprietors are compel compelled to add another shift at the present rate of wages there is a disposition on the part pari of i some employers to test the constitutionality ona lity of the law in bringing a case into court for that purpose immediately after june jiw 15 fortunately there is yet another month 1 in which to plan and arrange for the cha changes figes which the law will necessitate and it is to be hoped that operators and employed emp loyes will be able to come to a satisfactory ii und understanding sta within that period |
