Show THE MILL within two or three days says the news of ely nevada the crushing of ore will be resumed at the mill after a year of idleness preparations have been in progress for some time and a considerable force of men have been at work under mr cOmie Al rearranging arranging re and setting machinery steam was turned on yesterday and a test was made that resulted very satisfactorily the remodeling of the mill has been done in in a most substantial and workmanlike manner and the arrangement of the machinery is as handy as a pocket in a shirt not a shovel will touch the ore from the time it leaves the mine till it is ready to be removed from the tanks and run out to the tailing dump the position of the rock breaker has not been changed but remains below the ore bin into which the skips are dumped from the breaker the ore drops into a chute from which it is loaded into cars and run over a trestle about seventy feet to a bin at the top of the former cyanide building this building has four floors on the top floor is a large white rotary drier on the next floor is a set of large krom rolls the pulp bin and the cyanide solution tank on the third floor are the eugine engine and two leaching tanks with two more tanks just outside while on the lowest floor are the precipitation boxes sump tank and solution pump As the ore is dumped into the bin at the top of the building it passes over a 1 inch grizzly the fine stuff of which there is a large amount in this ore falls through into a chute connected with the pulp bin and is ready for the leaching tanks without further crushing the coarse rock is fed from the bin to the drier by an automatic feeder then passes through the drier and falls into another bin above the rolls to which it is fed automatically mati cally an endless belt elevator carries the pulp from the pit beneath the rolls to a rev revolving olvino screen above the pulp bin into into which falls all that is sufficiently fine while that which is still to coarse is returned to the rolls all of the crushing machinery is carefully encased so as to prevent the spreading of dust through the mill the tank capacity is at present limited to about eighteen tons a day but will be increased as s soon as the mill is in successful operation that it will succeed there is not the slightest doubt the company has been engaged for several weeks in re cyaniding the ta tailings llinus left by lane and is making it pay failure with the ore therefore does not seem possible besides its cyaniding cyan iding plant the company still has a complete 10 stamp amalgamating and concentrating mill which it could start up immediately should it so desire there is an abundance of ore in the mine already blocked out to keep the mill running a couple of years and no prospecting at all has been done below the water level the future of the was never so bright as today and in spite of the blac blackeye eye it received at the hands of tom lane we expect to see it prove to be one of the greatest producers of tha yellow stuff 11 in nevada |
