Show SOUTH DAKOTA lead tribune A good strike of high grade ore was reported yesterday from the golden crest property near galena although no details or a confirmation of the report could be obtained president bailey and party of stockholders and off officers leers from detroit is at present on the property waiting for the installation of the new electric equipment and the resumption of work in the 50 ton mill there is no telephone connection with the golden crest camp and no information could be got by phone from galena the golden crest struck a body of fairly high grade ore last spring and another similar find would not be surprising with the history of that section deadwood mining review the golden reward mining company will change its mill at deadwood from a dry crushing to a wet crushing plant according to the statement of C G C vice president of the company who has been in the hills I recently inspecting the property it is also planned to increase the capacity of the plant from tons per day to enable it to handle tons the determination is the outcome of the experiments which have been conducted during the past year and which have been thorough in every detail the question has ben completely demonstrated in a small way by the companas comp anys chemists and the operation of other wet crushing mills closely watched with the result that the company has decided to make the change as announced lead tribune owing to the delay in the arrival of the machinery it will be another three weeks before the reliance gold mining company can get its new ton cyanide mill on annie creek started only a little more of the machinery is needed and it has been shipped and is due to arrive about november 1 it will then take 2 weeks before the company can get the mill in running order but in another month it hopes to be preparing for a cleanup everything about the companas comp anys camp which is called stanley is in shape for operation and the mines are ready to supply the mill steadily recently a new ore body was opened up in a lower tunnel and is believed to be about 45 feet in width although it has not been explored much it is a good grade of ore and the company is i much gratified that it can be added to the already large ore reserve lead tribune dr H B meade who has a lease on the iron hill slag dump will commence treatment in a few days he will be assisted by A E richards an engineer who arrived from los angeles monday and who has been associated with dr meade in mining and milling for a number of years in the mining camps of the west the slag will be crushed and pulverized by running the crushers and rolls at tile the mills and will then be treated with canvas and screen tables of the doctors own designing there are from six to eight thousand tons of slag which dr meade is confident can be treated at a profit to himself and the company he is of the opinion that there is plenty of good ore in the mines that will yield readily to hypo and cyanide before completing his work on the slag he will probably examine the mine and advise the comp company any as to the proper method of treatment |
