golden chariot lode the new tind remained undiscovered all these years in consequence of inexperienced prospecting pec ting and a lack of capital to thoroughly r explore the ground and the early pioneers who followed the occupation of placer min f ing little dreamed that they were daily treading over a rich vein of gold ore it remained xema ined for jack hogan and K H mcleod to ito mane make the important discovery the two I 1 old experienced prospectors found some very tich rich float and selecting the best looking L ilace to start a shaft they had proceeded but a short distance when they encountered a pay streak over eighteen inches wide the ore containing in gold values the boys have about fifteen tons extracted and ta a mill run will be made as soon as condition permit Ter mit mr james beaton an old prospector over seventy eight years of age has been running a tunnel for the past four years on his claim the industry adjoining the empire mine at a distance of feet the vein about by their mix up with consolidated lake superior an acute period of I 1 depression was occasioned by the shutdown shut down from which the camp is just recovering this reported consolidation and the new r strikes made this season are giving encouragement to individual claim owners and aird a lively season is anticipated on this famous lold old mountain that has a record of producing over and judging from present indications is more than likely to duplicate that amount in the near future the trade dollar consolidated mining company operating on florida mountain shipped 1000 pounds of aullion to the mint the past week this is only three fourths of the monthly production as 25 per cent of the values are contained in the concentrates this property has ore reserves in bigat sufficient to keep the big mill at dewey running for the next two years the large working tunnel has attained a depth of nearly two miles with another mile to be run before being finally completed and so extensive are the workings of this property that it would require a separate article to describe them in detail the company has just received eight more electric transformers which will be utilized to produced between and and has a bright future in sight mr E V orford is general manager the old flint district about nine miles southwest of silver city promises to be the scene of considerable activity this season the old mill which has been idle for a number of years is again to be put in commission and several men will be employed by the old company the white brothers and dave adams have a small mill in operation which is run in the spring of the year during t the e water season the boys have a nice property with some high grade ore and they clean up quite a stake each season there is nothing said about the property on the outside and the owners seem to be satisfied with their holdings south mountain promises to be the liveliest camp in the state this coming season and is attracting the attention of capitalists on account of the high grade argen tife rous ores which are found in the district in large quantities the ore manifestations in the district are not excelled anywhere in the west excepting in the coeur dalene country the american standard mining and milling company is making preparations to work its property on an extensive scala and will be on the ground about the first of may to commence operations this company had a carload of high grade carbonate ore ready to ship last season but was prevented on account of the roads not being completed until too
