Show SYDNEY J JENNINGS DIES SUDDENLY sydney johnston jennings 65 president of the united states fuel company and vice president of the united states smelting smelling refining and mining company died suddenly at his home in new york city on the word of his death was received from moroni heiner salt lake vice president of the united states fuel company who was visiting mr jennings in new york born in hawesville Hawes ville kan august 13 1863 mr jennings was well known in mining circles throughout the world from 1922 to 1923 he was president of the american mining b congress and had been a member of the american institute of mining engineers the mining and metallurgical lurg ical society of america the institute of mining and metallurgy great britain the chemical metallurgical and mining society of south africa and the south african society of engineers mr jennin jennins 6 s received hiss early education in europe and was b graduated from harvard in 1885 he had taken a postgraduate post graduate course at the university of california and was chairman of the works committee of the town council of johannesburg S A during the british occupation in the boer war while in the latter position he had installed an electric trolley line an adequate water supply and underground sewers in the city clubs to which the noted mining engineer belonged include the alta club of this city the university club new york and the bankers club new york he is survived by his widow amy florence jennings two sons and two daughters |
