Show TWENTY EIGHTH ANNUAL REPORT OF MINING INDUSTRY 1926 the twenty eighth annual report of th the mining industry of idaho issued by stewart campbell inspector of mines has just been released for distribution this report is one of the largest and most comprehensive of any that has ever been issued containing pages compactly set in small type and twenty three illustrations it is a complete handbook on mining in idaho and contains much information of value to those interested in mining and milling as well as giving concise data on general mining conditions mining companies operating operatic in the state and opportunities which the state offers for mineral development As a whole it should prove of great value in displaying the mineral resources and attracting attention to the state each mining county is given a prominent place in a general review of the work done during the year the principal mining activities a list of the minerals found in the county and an expression of the mineral resources and mining possibilities that the county offers the mining companies are listed by counties and each company receives special mention which includes its officers capitalization location of the mine men employed and a brief review of 0 the work done during the year the report also gives a general review of mining throughout the state during the year this feature deals with each county and gives a complete resume of all the principal mining activities mr campbells foreword is a forceful statement oi of his position in encouraging the development of mineral resources coupled nath a brief outline which sets forth the principal points in the libel suit brought against him by the idaho copper corporation the foreword also calls attention to fake platinum assayers and platinum promotions the report contains a special article by K T sparks director of the mine rescue station in the coeur dalene district this station is maintained by and at the expense of the principal mining companies in shoshone county the article is fully illustrated and sets forth the excellent service which this work renders in mining safety first aid and fire fighting another feature of the report is a description of two pe the principal new mills constructed in the coeur dalen dalena district during 1926 the page mill of the federal mining smelting smelling Sm elting company and the galena mill of the callahan zinc lead company the report also contains a listef list of all the accidents which occurred in the mines mines of the state during the year a summary of the number of men employed and wages paid there is also included a complete bibliography which covers all the principal articles ever published on the geology mineralogy and mineral resources of the state the bibliographies are arranged by counties and general subjects thus givin at a glance all the principal publications which deal with the particular part of the state on which the investigator may be seeking information A prominent place in the report is given to metal production statistics this subject is arranged by counties for the y year ear 1926 and 6 gives the total amount and values of the metals produced also the state totals from 1903 to 1926 another interesting feature which has proved of value in past reports is the list of mining companies which have failed to comply with the laws the list is informative as it classifies the companies in accordance with their delin quenches quen cies the report is well illustrated with numerous nume numerous ious views views of mining scenes in various parts of the state it is comprehensively hen indexed well arranged and its preparation has evidently involved much time and effort it should prove an excellent medium for advertising the states mineral resources copies of the report may be had upon request to the inspectors office at boise idaho |
