Show CHARLES PETER NOT GUILTY OF USING UNITED STATES MAILS TO DEFRAUD the united states circuit of appeals sitting at st louis a few days ago handed down its decision in the charles peter case the case which readers of the mining review will remember culminated in the local federal court finding peter guilty of using the united states mails to defraud during the various stages of promoting atiq and what has been known to the public as the mascot consolidated mines and various various c changes anges resulting from reorganizations etc following the trial and conviction of mr peter he was sentenced to serve eighteen months in the federal prison at leavenworth kansas supplying the required appeal bond of the case went to the circuit court of appeals as stated the decision of the higher court the purport of which was carried in the press dispatches reverses the action of the lower court and releases mr peter and now that it is all over and the high highest estcourt court in the land having I 1 jurisdiction has declared that the defendant was not guilty of things charged and upon which he was convicted and sentenced to prison it is expected and believed that mr peter will resume the task of developing the mascot pr properties es to the production 1 i 1 basis that he always has contended they would reach mr peters many friends in local and idaho mining circles who have staunchly stood by him in his troublous three years of work to vindicate himself will congratulate him on the outcome af pf of the fight and wish him unbounded success with his mascot undertaking |
