Show argentina Arg entena consolidated company begins production thus adding to fame of the goodsprings Good springs district marking a turning point in the history of the famous yellow pine district of nevada long known for the profitable production of lead zinc silver and vanadium ores the argentina Arg entena consolidated mining company has completed its cevelo development p ment and construction program inaugurated 11 more than a year ago and the mine has now been placed on a definite production basis on october the company began operation of its new mill the last unit in the construe con tion program and at that time resumed underground opera 7 aa U lew of Arff Arx entena property and surface improvements luding mill aerial tram and towers to pumping no 2 lower left and district in the mine is located has produced more than worth of ores and the yellow pine anine which aich enjoys an excellent dividend record has beer the principal producer of the district the properties of the arg entena consolidated comprise tenni ten mining ining claims most of them patented and nineon nine of them showing strong evidence of a high degree of bf the he tenth claim was taken to provide a site for the mill load ing ln station and pumping 6 plant I the mine mihe is located about two miles by road from the town of goodsprings Good springs and eight miles ales by a good automobile road fron from i jean the nearest railroad shipping point on ithe union pacific the claims now being systematically developed by th the Argel itella consolidated have bus 1 bc cwb 1 lown known tp to mining men but no attempt has heretofore been made to apply modern and methodical principles to the development of the property prior to the acquisition of the property by the present owners a number of the claims had been worked by leasers leaders lea sers who were able to do so profitably although Z handicapped by lack of equipment and machi machinery nerv and in spite of the fact that they were forced to haul their water from goodsprings Good springs the ore shipped by these leasers leaders was all high grade in some sonie cases averaging as high as per ton engineer tweedy recommends property the claims comprising ithe argentina Arg entena group were formerly owned by the estate of allen alien G campbell a utah pioneer and were brought it to the attention of george A tweedy minin mining engineer by fred B well known among mining men of the southwest after inspecting the na AM INS 4 ae f bmw I 1 U in H U U ni ti ll 11 U ore sorting Sor lins tables at upper martin a company was formed and arrangements were concluded with the campbell estate for the purchase odthe of the claims I 1 for nearly a year under tinder mr Twe edys direction the company confined its efforts to underground under round de development work on two of the claims during this period about feet of underground work was done and ore bodies of sufficient ficie I 1 it size and of sufficiently high 1 I grade to warrant the construction of a mill power plant water system aerial tramway loading bins and other facilities were blocked out at the conclusion odthe underground exploration work mr tweedy in a report to the officials official of the company estimated that tons of ore chiefly lead and zinc were available and that this ore with proper equipment should be mined milled and shipped at a profit to the company of 10 pr per ton through subsequent work the estimate of the ore body has been increased to tons on the two at olt JY 11 Y 3 al K A 2 K view in adit to date with the completion of this development work and UP upon on the reco recommendation emendation of mr tweedy the company started its construction program which has just been completed at goodsprings Good springs a site for the pumping plant and power plant was vas obtained and a well which develops suf focient water for all requirements was sunk the company is now sinking a second well for reserve and emergency use se at goodsprings Good springs where pump station no 1 is located a 20 h p type Y fairbanks morse engine was installed this engine being belted to a rumsey triplex pump this plant has a capacity of 60 gallons per minute through a three inch pipe line feet in length pumping against a head of feet the three inch line runs from pump station no 1 to station no 2 at the mill site water from station no 1 is pumped into two 2500 gallon tanks located at station no 2 where there is a 10 h p type Y fairbanks morse engine with a rumsey triplex pump this station has a lifting capacity of 10 gallons per minute through a two inch pipe line feet in length against a head of feet the wa ter is pumped is from this station to the top of the hill where it is distributed to all parts part of the mine and camp by gravity at goodsprings Good springs the company has also erected and installed a modern electric power plant consisting of a hp diesel engine directly connected with an electric generator gene from thi this plant a line three thre miles emiles in length conveys the electric lec current to the mill and mine mill is modern in every respect the mill the last unit in the construction program to be completed comp feted is of the most modern type with machinery and equipment desi gend 2 to concentrate the lead and silver from the ore and to save such values of zin zinc cand and vanadium as is possible the p present resent plant has a capacity of 50 to 80 tons of ore per twenty four hours but in the erection of this unit it was so planned that its capacity can be easily doubled without interruption of operations ores are conveyed from the upper loading station at the adit tunnel level by aerial tramway operated solely by gravity at the upper loading station the ores are sorted crushed in a jaw crusher a and nd automatically conveyed to the proper bins the takes the ore directly from these bins and conveys it to tb emill therill th bins in the case of milling ore borover or over the mill to the shipping ore bins at a lower level the tramway approximately 2500 feet in length was designed for a capacity of 25 tons per hour but it is believed after actual tests that its maximum carrying capacity will greatly exceed this figure thamine the Th mine emine throughout is fully equipped the company has installed a chicago pneumatic bic air compressor with ample capacity to furnish air for the machine drills air hoists etc in the mine a modern and well equipped blacksmith shop mine cars air lines water lines and trac kaoe for mine cars throughout the workings and a mine hoist mine is developed for gravity operation describing the mine workings in a recent report mr tweedy said the hi highest hest levels from which we plan to
